New Orleans 04-08-06 149.JPG - After leaving Audubon Park, we drove South to Barataria Preserve, part of the Jean Lafitte National Historical Park, and hiked out the Bayou Coquille Trail to enjoy the wildlife and the environment. This area was formed beginning around 5,000 years ago by the Mississippi River as it deposited the sediment carried in water drained from two-thirds of the continental United States.
